Hayden Carr of Grand Island, a senior theater major at Niagara University, has the lead role in the NU Theatre production of “Company.”
Winner of six Tony Awards – including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Lyrics and Best Book
“Company” is largely regarded as a trailblazer of the dark-comedy, modern-musical genre. The revival in 2022 garnered an additional five Tonys.
The music and lyrics are by Stephen Sondheim.
The plot centers on confirmed bachelor, Bobby, contemplating his unmarried state on the night of his 35th birthday.
Over the course of a series of dinners, drinks and even a wedding, his friends enlighten Bobby about the pros and cons of taking on a spouse.
The habitually single Robert is forced to question his unyielding hold on bachelorhood through a comic array of exchanges with his friends.
The show opened April 24 and runs through Sunday, May 4.
