The Town of Lewiston recently shared the following via its social media:
Regarding the closure of Military Road, between Saunders Settlement and Upper Mountain roads, starting Monday, May 5, the New York State Department of Transportation stated actual closure (where the barricades will be placed) will be south of North Hewitt Drive and Route 31. Motorists will be able to exit the I-190 at Military Road.
Edbauer Construction will begin replacement of the culvert crossing Route 265 (Military Road) on Monday, May 5. This culvert is at Gill Creek, just north of Route 31 (Witmer Road/Saunders Settlement Road).
To replace this culvert, Route 265 (Military Road) will be closed at Route 31 for northbound traffic, and at Upper Mountain Road for southbound traffic. A posted detour will be in place at Upper Mountain Road, directing traffic to the I-190 and then to Route 31.
Signs will be posted for “local traffic only” at Upper Mountain Road.
Route 265 will be closed northbound at Route 31. There will be a pedestrian detour that will direct traffic through the Reservoir State Park.
The anticipated duration for the closure/detours will be approximately three weeks.
