Summer in the Town of Niagara includes various activities for children and adults in and around the Calvin K. Richards Senior and Youth Center inside of Veteran’s Memorial Park.
While most of the activities are completely free, there is a $10 admission price to the mini-golf course during the day, and a $13 admission price for after 9 p.m. when it gets dark. At that point, Assistant Director Caleb Lee said “glow in the dark mini-golf” will begin, a brand-new activity in Veteran’s Park.
“We’ll have glow-in-the-dark lights around the mini-golf course and around the holes,” he said.
Another daily way to have fun and stay cool is the Town of Niagara splashpad, also located in Veteran’s Park. It is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
Lee also talked about kids yoga with Miss Hannah, which is for children between the ages of 5 and 10 years old. The first class was Tuesday, July 8, but two more classes are scheduled for Thursday, July 30, and Thursday, Aug. 14, in the Senior and Youth Center.
According to a Niagara Recreation Department Facebook post, children should bring a yoga mat, a water bottle and wear comfortable clothing. The classes will be either indoors or outdoors depending on weather.
Senior yoga classes are scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
The “Music Mania” concert series continues Monday nights. Between 6:30 and 7:15 p.m., the opening set will showcase local Western New York bands. The main headliner will take the stage at 8 p.m. in Veteran’s Park.
Finally, an outdoor movie is scheduled for 9 p.m. every Thursday night. “Moana 2” will be shown July 17, also in Veteran’s Park.
