Historical Association of Lewiston Press Release
The Historical Association of Lewiston is pleased to host Rick Falkowski for its next program. “Early 1900’s Industry, Manufacturing, Society & Culture” will be presented at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Lutheran Church of the Messiah Fellowship Hall, 915 Oneida St.
Falkowski will take guests back into the early 20th century, providing information about the people who were instrumental in making Buffalo one of the most blue-collar and white-collar cities in the U.S. during the early 20th century. He will include contributions by area residents in industry, manufacturing, education, entertainment, sports and literature. In addition, contributions by philanthropists who lived on Delaware Avenue’s “Millionaire Row” will be discussed.
Falkowski has been involved in all aspects of WNY entertainment during the past 60 years. He is the founder of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame and the Buffalo Music Awards, former publisher of the Buffalo Backstage Magazine, entertainment coordinator of Tonawanda’s Gateway Harbor Concerts, former representative of the American Society of Authors Composers & Publishers (ASCAP), a UB graduate, USAF veteran and a Time Warner retiree.
He presents classes on the history of Buffalo music, and Buffalo history, at libraries, community centers, schools, senior living centers and for various organizations. In addition, he is the author of “History of Buffalo Music & Entertainment” (2017), “Profiles Volume I: History & Influential People from Buffalo & WNY-the 1800s” (2019), “Profiles Volume II: History & Influential People from Buffalo and WNY-the Early1900s” (2021), “The Spirit of Buffalo Women” (2023) and “Historic Places of Buffalo & WNY” (2025).
This community event is free and open to all, but donations are greatly appreciated to help support the Lewiston Museum. Refreshments will be served.
