Concert set for Friday, Sept. 26, at Lewiston Stone House

The Niagara Cancer Survivors will host “Rock Out Cancer” next Friday at The Lewiston Stone House, 755 Center St. Funds will go toward helping those who are battling cancer and in financial dire straits.

“We are going to have a DJ here on Sept. 26, from 6 until 8, and then Anybody Out There will be playing from 8 to 11,” committee member Donna Garfinkel said. “We have a few items that we'll be raffling off. We'll be doing a 50-50, and enjoying ourselves.”

All proceeds will go to support Niagara Cancer Survivors.

Member Emery Simon said, “We're an organization that has been touched by cancer, one way or another, through our families and friends. We created this organization to help people that are struggling with the day-to-day finances while they're going through cancer.

“Unfortunately, when someone gets cancer, and it's a two-person family, not only are you losing one income from the person who's got cancer, but you're losing a partial on the second income, because that person now has to become a caregiver. So, finances suddenly that were not a big issue suddenly become an issue – your mortgage, your utility costs, you're putting gas in the car, groceries at the store. Everybody knows what it costs for groceries.

“Fortunately, we've had sponsors like Anthony DiMino from Tops, who gives us Tops cards, which allows us to not only help people with their utility costs, but help them with being able to go to the grocery store, and just softening that bill up a little bit by giving them Tops cards.”

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center is a sponsor for “Rock Out Cancer.”

President and CEO Joseph A. Ruffolo said, “NFMMC proudly supports the Niagara Cancer Survivors initiative because survivorship deserves to be seen and celebrated. These are our neighbors, our patients, and our partners in resilience – and honoring them reflects the heart of our mission.”

The Buffalo-based Anybody Out There – A Pink Floyd Experience will headline “Rock Out Cancer.” On the group’s website it notes the band is a musical celebration of one of the most iconic progressive rock bands of all time – Pink Floyd. Their evocative show is a spectacular stage production that authentically and reverently emulates the sonic and visual intensity and emotion of a live Pink Floyd performance complete with an extensive light show including the iconic circular projection screen.”

Tickets are $20 presale (visit https://rockoutcancer.com/) or $25 at the door.
