Class of 1972 Niagara Falls graduates leave their mark at Hyde Park

The Class of 1972 Niagara Falls graduates recently donated a bench to the City of Niagara Falls, with the large, green seating area situated near the bocce courts at Hyde Park.

“We are a unique year of graduates from Bishop Duffy, LaSalle High School, Madonna, Niagara Falls High School and Trott Vocational,” member Rosemary Dann said. “We started coming together with reunions for our 40th, 45th, 50th, and our 70th birthday celebration.”

She explained this “special” group “came together because of the commonality we have. … We grew up at a time when the Falls population was around 106,000 in the ’60s and had about 32 elementary schools – public and religious. We were kids who grew up in neighborhoods and attended local churches/temple. This is what makes us come together as one group, even though we went to separate high schools, etc.”

Last Friday, 12 members of the Class of 1972 came together for a photo at the site of their donation.

The plaque on the bench reads, “United Like No Others // Dedicated To The Eternal Friendship Of Our Classmates // Niagara Falls High Schools Classes Of 1972 // Bishop Duffy • LaSalle • Madonna • Niagara Falls • Trott.”
