Submitted on Behalf of Jose Garcia

Jose Garcia was elected to the Grand Island Town Board in the November 2024 special election and has proudly served since, bringing decades of law enforcement, leadership, and small business experience to local government. In his time on the board, Garcia has made it a priority to be accessible to residents, lead with transparency, and focus on tangible improvements that benefit the Island community.

A lifelong Grand Island resident and 1989 graduate of Grand Island High School, Jose has deep roots in the community and a strong sense of responsibility to protect and enhance the Island’s quality of life. His approach to public service is grounded in facts, fairness and results.

In just his first year on the board, Garcia:

•Helped pass a long-overdue property maintenance law, holding property owners accountable and ensuring community standards are upheld.

•Engaged directly with the owner of Grand Island Plaza, advocating for visible improvements and making progress on revitalizing its appearance.

•Participated in efforts to encourage investment in the former Radisson Hotel, recognizing its potential to strengthen the Island’s economy and image.

•Remained visible and responsive to residents, attending events, listening to concerns, and helping shape solutions with input from the community.

Prior to public office, Jose retired as a senior special agent with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, serving 29 years in roles that demanded integrity, sound judgment, and leadership under pressure. He conducted internal investigations, worked on civil rights cases, and supported executive protection missions across the globe. He also managed surveillance operations, collaborated with agencies including the FBI, and routinely briefed congressional committees.

As a small business owner and licensed private investigator, Jose founded Native Language Service LLC, a certified New York state Minority-Owned Business. His company supports school districts with residency compliance, and bridges communication gaps with non-English-speaking families to promote student attendance.

Jose’s commitment to Grand Island extends far beyond public office. He is:

•An active member of the Grand Island Lions Club, serving on the board of directors and supporting the club’s mission of service to those in need.

•A former board member and past commodore of the Sandy Beach Yacht Club, where he managed marina operations and oversaw major infrastructure improvements.

•Garcia brings a balanced, fact-based, and proactive voice to town government, shaped by decades of public service and a lifelong commitment to Grand Island.

“My goal is to serve with integrity, listen to the residents, and ensure we’re making smart, sustainable decisions that preserve the Island’s character while planning for its future. I ask you for your support and vote on Nov. 4 to continue the honor of serving my community,” Garcia said.
