The Lewiston Public Library (www.lewistonpubliclibrary.org) has been a cornerstone of learning, inspiration and connection in our community since 1901. It offers more than just books – it provides free access to technology, educational programs for all ages, job search resources, safe spaces for children and teens, digital media, and countless opportunities for personal growth.
Led by our executive director, Jill Palermo, and her small, but dedicated staff, the library’s most recent 2024 annual report reveals robust patronage and programming, including:
√ Library visits: 57,367
√ Registered borrowers: 6,081
√ Children's programs: 233, with 4,134 attending
√ Adult and family programs: 74, with 2,167 attending
√ Non-library programs: 95
√ Patron computer use sessions: 2,198
√ Circulation: physical items: 47,426, digital items: 6,103
As trustees, it is our responsibility to make sure the Lewiston Public Library is managed well and has the resources it needs today and for future generations. Now, more than ever, we need our community’s support to ensure the library continues to thrive. Rising costs and increasing demand for services mean we must work together to maintain this essential resource. Your support – whether through donations, volunteering, advocacy, or simply spreading the word – makes a lasting impact.
Libraries are for everyone, and when you support the library, you’re investing in our shared future. You’re helping a student find homework help, a senior learn to use the internet, a parent discover story time, or a job-seeker find their next opportunity.
We invite you to stand with us in support of our local library. Visit, get involved, join the volunteers of the Friends of the Library, and be part of the reason our library continues to be a vibrant, welcoming hub for all. Just call us at 754-4720.
Thank you for believing in the power of knowledge, community, and lifelong learning. Special thanks to the members of the Town of Lewiston Town Board for its financial support.
With gratitude, the board of trustees of the Lewiston Public Library: Christopher Pannozzo, president; Fred Caso, vice president; John Daigneau, treasurer;
