SUNY Niagara is the site of the fourth annual SUNY Cannabis Conference, taking place Jan. 12-13. This event advances education, fosters professional networking, and informs the public about the opportunities within the cannabis industry. The conference includes sessions on medical cannabis research, plant genetics, sustainable practices, and culinary cannabis innovations.

The conference begins with “Culinary Day,” Jan. 12. This will focus on the use of cannabis in food with programming at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute in Niagara Falls. Events will include a gourmet, CBD-infused lunch and dinner at Savor restaurant.

Among the Jan. 12 presenters are NFCI’s own chef Nathan Koscielski, creator of SUNY’s first credit-bearing culinary cannabis lecture and lab courses; and chef Camille Le Caer, a 2020 winner on the Food Network’s “Guy’s Grocery Games.”

The conference will move to the SUNY Niagara campus in Sanborn on Jan. 13 for what is billed as “Industry-wide Day.” It will include an all-day vendor market and presentations covering topics ranging from the applications of medical marijuana to branding within the cannabis industry, and from growing best practices to educating consumers about cannabis-infused products.

“We’re excited to offer such a diverse lineup of speakers,” SUNY Niagara Horticulture Program Coordinator Melissa Moore said. “As the cannabis industry expands, new voices are emerging with fresh perspectives, and we’re proud to bring them to SUNY Niagara to engage directly with the community. At its heart, the conference creates a shared space for connection and collaboration, where community, education, and the expanding science of cannabis come together to shape what’s next.”

Event sponsors include Devil’s Lettuce, House of Sacci, DRS Testing, Upstate Exotics, Akron Bloom, ayrloom, Satisfied Mind, Cannabis Workforce Initiative, Nanticoke, Canterra, Magical Ruby Slippers, Thrive, Myers Security, Marijuana Farms New York, Local 338, Innocence, Eureka Vapor, CannaWorkforce Solutions, Bristol Extracts, and Prime Superior.
