Western New York Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association press release

The Western New York Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will offer a free event in Niagara County to explore the impact of Alzheimer’s disease on the community at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, at First Presbyterian Church, located at 505 Cayuga St., Lewiston.

“Today, more than 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s and over 11 million are their unpaid caregivers – an escalating health crisis that affects many in our community,” said Courtney Sipes, director of community engagement for the WNY Chapter. “In Niagara County, nearly 11% of individuals age 65 and over are affected by Alzheimer’s or dementia.”

The program will cover the impact of the disease, local care and support resources, and ways to join the fight against Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.

The Home Assistance Referral Team (HART) is collaborating on the event and will share how it helps seniors maintain independence by linking them with reliable, affordable support right at home.

Individuals can register online at bit.ly/AlzFaith26MAY or by calling 800-272-3900. The event is supported, in part, by a grant from the New York State Department of Health.
