On Friday morning, 415 people laced up their gym shoes and took to the stairs of Sahlen Field for the American Lung Association’s annual “Fight For Air Climb Buffalo.”

Families, friends, firefighters and corporate teams raced up and down 500 stadium steps to raise $200,000 (and counting) to help nearly 2.4 million New Yorkers living with lung disease.

“We are very grateful to everyone that came out to support lung health and so proud of the funds raised,” said Kaelyn Gates, executive director of the American Lung Association in Western New York. “Thanks to the determination of our supporters and climbers, we raised $200,000 to help ongoing efforts to end lung cancer and lung disease in New York.”

The Lung Association looks forward to next year’s Buffalo climb and to continuing to work to improve lung health and prevent lung disease in New York.

The American Lung Association is the leading organization working to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through education, advocacy and research. The work of the American Lung Association is focused on four strategic imperatives: to defeat lung cancer; to champion clean air for all; to improve the quality of life for those with lung disease and their families; and to create a tobacco-free future.
