The following Grand Island response activity occurred Saturday, May 2, to Friday, May 8, according to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office. ECSO deputies handled a total of 2,128 complaints among its county districts of 15 municipalities, including Grand Island, for the week of this report.
This included 435 premises checks; nine neighborhood patrols; 186 vehicle/traffic stops; 244 calls to assist other agencies; and 23 arrest warrants served.
The following is a small sampling of the noteworthy incidents on Grand Island.
Sunday, May 3
•Baseline Road, accident/PDO – Patrol responded for a vehicle that went off the road and struck a mailbox. There was damage to the vehicle and the mailbox was destroyed.
•W. River Road, shots fired – A complainant reported hearing gunshots. Patrol responded and determined the subject was lawfully and legally target shooting.
Monday, May 4
•Whitehaven Road, larceny – A business reported that scrap copper had been stolen.
Tuesday, May 5
•Whitehaven Road, accident-PDO – Patrol responded for a property-damage-only accident that occurred in a business parking lot.
Friday, May 8
•E. River Road, fraud – Patrol completed a police report for a fraud complaint involving a check that was mailed.
