Niagara County Legislator David Godfrey has been appointed to a leadership position by the National Association of Counties (NACo). Godfrey was appointed vice chair of the justice and public safety committee during NACo’s annual conference last week.
“I am honored to accept this appointment, as public safety policy has long been a top priority for me,” Godfrey said. “I served as chairman of the Niagara County community safety and security committee for a number of years and continue to be heavily engaged with our first responders and police agencies. We need federal help in many areas of public safety, and I plan on being a strong advocate for the collective needs of our nation’s counties.”
Through NACo, counties unite to advocate for county priorities in federal policymaking and promote county policies and practices that optimize taxpayer resources and cost savings.
Godfrey previously served as vice chairman of the telecommunications and technology steering committee.
