Weeklong celebration of work of Catholic Charities supports Appeal 2025
Catholic Charities of Buffalo Press Release
Catholic Charities of Buffalo is hosting its second “Hops for HOPE,” a celebration of the work of the agency and a call to support Appeal 2025, at Resurgence Brewing.
Following the success of the inaugural “Hops for HOPE” event last year, this year’s event is a weeklong celebration that kicks off Friday, May 16, and runs through May 23.
The partnership with Resurgence Brewing – and expanding from one day to a week of festivities – is intended to raise awareness of the programs and services offered by Catholic Charities, recognize volunteers and supporters, and promote Appeal 2025, which concludes June 30.
“With less than two months to go in this year’s Appeal, we need the community’s help to finish strong and ensure that both help and hope can continue for our neighbors,” said Deacon Steve Schumer, president and CEO of Catholic Charities. “All funds raised during ‘Hops for HOPE’ and throughout the entire Appeal stay local to support the vital programs and services offered by Catholic Charities. We serve all and are encouraging all to give this year.”
The “Hops for HOPE” beer is a special rebranding of Resurgence Brewing’s Summer Ale. Cans of “Hops for HOPE” will be available for sale through May 23 and only in the tasting room at Resurgence, located at 55 Chicago St., Buffalo. A portion of the proceeds from each can and four-pack will benefit Appeal 2025 in support of Catholic Charities and the “Fund for the Faith.”
All “Hops for HOPE” events take place right at Resurgence and include:
√ Friday, May 16, 4-7 p.m. – “Hops for HOPE” kick-off happy hour
√ Saturday, May 17, 1-3 p.m. – “Have a Brew and Learn What We Do”
√ Tuesday, May 20, 4-7 p.m. – “Knights’ Night.” Individuals who identify themselves as a member of a Catholic service organization, i.e. WNY Knights of Columbus, Knights of St. John, etc., or member of the clergy, will receive one beer coupon.
√ Thursday, May 22, 5-7 p.m. – HOPE Day sponsor appreciation to recognize those who supported the 24-hour fundraising day held in March.
√ Friday, May 23, 4-7 p.m. – “Hops for HOPE” last call
“The work of Catholic Charities really serves all aspects of our local community,” said Jeff Ware, owner of Resurgence Brewing. “We're proud of our efforts to lift-up the organizations that serve our region. It's just one way we can give back to the community that has supported us over the last decade!”
Appeal 2025 continues through June 30 and has currently raised more than $6 million, or 71% of its goal, to date. Donors can give at ccwny.org or call 716-218-1400. For more event information, visit ccwny.org/HopsForHOPE.
