Niagara Hospice is looking forward to the 12th annual Hospice Gran Fondo, taking place Aug. 9. The event starts and ends at the Niagara Hospice campus, located at 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport.
“Gran Fondo” originates from Italy, where long-distance bike rides are followed by big celebrations.
Presented by Drive Against Diabetes (D.A.D.), the Hospice Gran Fondo offers a 15-mile, 33-mile or 62-mile route. Each route features a number of rest stops stocked with refreshments. Following the ride, participants return to the Niagara Hospice campus for the post-race party, complete with food, drinks and live music by MJ & the Way. For those not taking part in the ride, a separate ticket may be purchased to enjoy the after-party.
Many individuals ride in memory of a loved one. Proceeds from the event support the specialized care and services provided by the nonprofit organization.
