Grand Island Central School district accolades

Grand Island Central School district retirees, both teachers and school-related professionals, were honored at a reception held just prior to the June 2 Board of Education meeting. Teachers and staff retiring during the 2024-25 school year are Lynn Ackendorf, third grade teacher at Kaegebein Elementary School; Dawn M. Hayes, social studies teacher at Veronica Connor Middle School; Mary Howard, science and English and language arts teacher at Veronica Connor Middle School; Joanne Johnson, reading teacher at Sidway Elementary School; Diane Lipp, third grade teacher at Huth Road Elementary School; Jennifer Mernitz, music teacher at Grand Island Senior High School; Donnette Rayhill, teaching assistant at Grand Island Senior High School; Brian Winger, Spanish teacher at Grand Island Senior High School; John Busch, Ezra “Charles” Florence and Iraida Erdolino, cleaners with buildings and grounds; Lisa Gallagher, account clerk typist with buildings and grounds; Michael Fetzer, bus driver, with Jack Burns, transportation; Pauline Covatto and Josette Dickinson, teacher aides at Huth Road Elementary School; Elzabeth O’Connor, senior clerk typist at Huth Road Elementary School; Anna Bruno, clerk typist at Veronica Connor Middle School; Marie Heberlein, teacher aide at Veronica Connor Middle School; Vicki Strano, hall monitor at Veronica Connor Middle School; Kathleen Mogavero, account clerk typist at the district office; and Karen Sturtz, clerk typist at Grand Island Senior High School.

Faculty members who received tenure are: Brittany Lawrence, kindergarten teacher at Charlotte Sidway Elementary School; Lindsey Brzozowski, first grade teacher at Sidway Elementary School; Alyssa Brown, school counselor at Huth Road Elementary School; Robert Ross, physical education teacher at Huth Road Elementary School; Laura Chiddy, fourth grade teacher at Kaegebein Elementary School; Eileen Briceland, English teacher at Grand Island Senior High School; Brodie Kaiser, school social worker at Grand Island Senior High School; Caitlin Wojciechowski, social studies teacher at Grand Island Senior High School; Sarah Klettke, English to speakers of other languages at Grand Island Senior High School; Kristin Wegrzyn, physical education/health teacher at Grand Island Senior High School; and Hilary Kretz-Harvey, secondary principal at Grand Island Senior High School.
