Friends of the Youngstown Free Library to host communitywide garage sale with food, fun & fundraising

Mark your calendars and clear out your closets: The Friends of the Youngstown Free Library are hosting a community-wide garage sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 19, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at the Red Brick Building Gym, 240 Lockport St., Youngstown. On Sunday, the popular $5 fill-a-bag sale will run all day.

All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Youngstown Free Library, helping to fund programs and services that support literacy and learning in the community.

This annual event brings neighbors together in support of a good cause. Shoppers can expect to find household items, toys, tools, small appliances, décor and more – all priced to sell.

In addition to great deals, the sale will feature a bottle and can collection to benefit Empower, a local organization supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Youngstown Lions Club will also be on site collecting used eyeglasses and hearing aids, and members be grilling up hot dogs throughout the event for hungry shoppers. A bake sale will offer sweet treats to keep energy levels high while patrons are browsing the tables.

Donations are gratefully accepted and can be dropped off at the Red Brick Building Gym from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, July 18. Gently used clothing, household items, toys, tools, and small appliances are welcome – but please hold onto your books for the November book sale.
