New York Power Authority Press Release

The New York Power Authority is ranked in the top 10 of all utility companies on Forbes Magazine’s list of America’s Best Employers for Company Culture 2025. NYPA achieved an impressive ranking, securing the No. 7 position among 28 utility companies, and earning the No. 293 spot overall out of the 600 companies featured on the list. This ranking recognizes NYPA’s dedication to fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone can contribute and belong.

"This recognition by Forbes for best workplace culture in the United States is a powerful affirmation of the values that drive the Power Authority forward,” NYPA President and CEO Justin E. Driscoll said. “This honor reflects the commitment of our team to build a workplace rooted in inclusion, collaboration and purpose. It is yet another example of the truly professional and talented workforce here at NYPA.”

NYPA also earned the No. 3 ranking on Forbes’ List of America’s Best Employers for New Grads and rankings on America's Best Midsize Employers, America’s Best Employer for Women, and America’s Best-In-State Employers lists earlier this year.

“I’m honored to receive this award, in part, because the ranking comes from employee voices, but also because, at NYPA, we are focused daily on ensuring our workplace is one where everyone feels valued,” NYPA Senior Vice President of Human Resources Karina Saslow said. “Culture isn’t just a buzzword. Culture creates a feeling that makes talented individuals want to stay with our organization. We’re very proud of our culture and remain committed to excellence in this area.”

Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to survey more than 218,000 U.S.-based employees working for companies employing at least 1,000 people within the U.S. from all industry sectors. Participants were invited to evaluate their employer across a range of culture-related topics, which centered on fairness, acceptance and opportunity as key drivers of a healthy work environment. The list was compiled using extensive KPI research and two types of evaluations: personal (those given by employees themselves) and public (those given by friends and family members of employees, or members of the public who work in the same industry).

The Power Authority employs more than 2,500 people in New York, and operates major hydropower projects in Western and Northern New York, as well as one-third of the state’s power transmission system.

NYPA’s workforce includes individuals with a diverse range of skills, including electricians, mechanics, security professionals, engineers, project managers, environmental scientists, data analysts, cloud engineers, financial analysts, energy traders, and many others.
