Buffalo Bills Foundation & Wegmans team up for annual 'Huddle for Hunger'

Initiative seeks to combat hunger in Western New York

The Buffalo Bills Foundation, in partnership with Wegmans and FeedMore WNY, will host the annual “Huddle for Hunger” community food drive and festival at Highmark Stadium on Tuesday, Sept. 30. The initiative aims to raise awareness of food insecurity in our region and support local hunger-fighting charities. Together, the Buffalo Bills Foundation and Wegmans will collect nonperishable food donations benefiting FeedMore WNY and nearly 400 partner hunger-relief agencies from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Highmark Stadium. Fans who donate will receive a Buffalo Bills “Rivalry” tote bag and gain entry into the festival.

New this year, the Buffalo Bills will host an interactive festival set up in Lot 2 ADA featuring appearances from Buffalo Bills players, Buffalo Bills alumni, Billy Buffalo, local farmers markets, garden demonstrations, fresh produce tasting, music, games, giveaways, photo opportunities, and the 20 “Huddle for Hunger” charities. Entry is free and open to the public for fans who donate.

The schedule is as such:

√ 4:30 p.m.: Food drive drop-off, festival opens

√ 4:30-5:30 p.m.: Buffalo Bills rookie class appearance

√ 4:30-5:30 p.m.: High school challenge drop-off

√ 6:30 p.m.: Food drive drop-off and festival closes

Twenty hunger-fighting charities will benefit from the Buffalo Bills 50/50 raffle on Oct. 5, and through Wegmans “Meals 2Go” orders Sept. 29 through Oct. 4. Charities include: Buffalo City Mission, Buffalo Go Green, Chautauqua County Rural Ministry, Community Missions of Niagara Frontier, Connecting Communities in Action, FeedMore WNY, Field & Fork Network, Food Shuttle of WNY, Friends of Night People, Grassroots Gardens WNY, Hearts for the Homeless, Heart, Love & Soul, Home Beneath Our Feet, Massachusetts Avenue Project, Providence Farm Collective, St. Luke's Mission of Mercy, St. Susan Center, The Salvation Army, The Warming House at St. Bonaventure University and West Side Community Services.

Fourteen high schools are participating in the “Huddle for Hunger” high school challenge, hosting food drives in their respective communities and school districts. The top three participating schools will receive tickets to the Bills vs. Patriots game on Sunday, Oct. 5, and will be recognized on field pregame.

Wegmans will distribute samples of the new “Bring the Storm” Wegmans Buffalo Bills themed ice cream.

Westside Produce will distribute cantaloupe samples from the Allen Family Farm located in Firebaugh, California. Melons are currently available for sale at local Wegmans.

The net charitable proceeds from the Buffalo Bills vs. New England Patriots game day 50/50 raffle will benefit the 20 “Huddle for Hunger” charities.

From Sept. 29 through Oct. 4, Wegmans is matching every “Meals 2Go” order dollar for dollar up to $50,000.

On Friday, Oct. 3, the Buffalo Bills Foundation, Wegmans, and FeedMore will host a “Huddle for Hunger: food drive at the Jamestown vs. Bennett High School football game at Strider Field in Jamestown. Fans who donate will receive a Buffalo Bills rivalry tote bag.
