Submitted by the City of North Tonawanda Mayor’s Office
Get in the Halloween spirit by nominating your house, or nominating another house, for North Tonawanda’s first Halloween decorating contest, sponsored by the Office of Mayor Austin Tylec, in conjunction with the Department of Parks & Recreation. Only homes located in North Tonawanda will be considered for this communitywide contest.
The event will include categories for themed displays that fit a unified style; DIY displays that feature handmade decorations and creativity; family-friendly displays that are fun and engaging; and spooky displays that’ll cause a scare. In addition, one winner will be selected by Tylec as the Mayor’s Choice.
Entries must be submitted by Thursday, Oct. 16. Public voting will begin Sunday, Oct. 17, and continue through Saturday, Oct. 23. Each participating house or display will be photographed and shared on the city’s social media and website, where residents can vote for their favorites. Homeowners also have the option to submit their own photos for use in the contest by emailing them in a horizontal (landscape) format to ntparksrec@northtonawanda.org.
Winners will be announced at the City Market’s Fall Fest on Oct. 25, and presented with awards. Residents can nominate their own homes or the homes of others. They do not need to know the homeowner to make a nomination.
“This contest is a fun way to bring neighbors together, showcase creativity, and spread community spirit,” Tylec said.
