Sherry Steffans has dedicated her life to serving others – as a nurse, school board member, and community leader. With deep roots in Grand Island and a career built on compassion, advocacy and action, Sherry is now running for Town Council to ensure our community remains safe, thriving, and family-friendly.

A lifetime of service

For over a decade, Sherry has served others as an emergency department nurse, school nurse, and travel nurse. She understands what it means to face challenges head-on, bring people together in crisis, and fight for the well-being of families. Sherry has also worked internationally, bringing critical medical supplies to underserved villages in the Philippines.

Advocating for children and families

Elected to the Grand Island School Board in 2021, Sherry has championed mental health, expanded counseling services, and supported initiatives to improve student and staff wellness. She has taught children the importance of emotional intelligence, teamwork and resilience, while also presenting at national conferences to promote healthier school and work environments.

On the board, she has been a strong voice, fighting to reopen schools after COVID-19, standing up for parental rights, and ensuring fairness in education.

A strong agenda for Grand Island

As a Town Council candidate, Sherry is committed to:

•Keeping taxes low – Cutting waste and protecting taxpayers while maintaining excellent services.

•Transparency & accountability – Ensuring local government serves the people first.

•Youth & recreation – Expanding opportunities for children and families to thrive.

•Public safety – Supporting law enforcement and strengthening crime prevention.
