Stella Niagara transformed its second floor into an enchanted forest this week as it hosted its annual Scholastic Book Fair, themed “Get Lost … In a Good Book!” The weeklong fair offered students and families a themed event filled with literacy, creativity and school spirit.
Throughout the week, students visited the fair during their scheduled library classes. Mrs. Trower provided guided tours tailored to each grade level, helping students discover books to spark their curiosity and imagination. Students could shop before school and after clubs, making the fair accessible and exciting for all.
Two special “Family Fun Nights” offered an immersive forest-themed experience complete with interactive forest information stations presented by seventh grade students; games, crafts and face-painting; themed treats; and book shopping for all ages.
The event showcases Stella Niagara’s commitment to blending literacy with hands-on learning and joyful community engagement.

Creativity on display
In addition to book shopping, students participated in several themed activities to highlight imagination and academic enrichment. They were invited to create forest dioramas depicting either realistic woodland scenes or enchanted forests. Projects were displayed throughout the fair, turning the space into a student-created woodland gallery. Every participant took part in the beloved “Lollipop Pull,” where prizes include free books.
Homerooms also took part in a friendly competition by decorating doors with forest creatures – real or mythical. Each display included informational elements about the chosen creature, combining research, art and creativity. Winning homerooms were recognized for their outstanding work.
Adding to the excitement, Stella Niagara’s eighth-grade teacher and drama club director Mrs. Feuerman was featured at the fair, offering copies of her newly published novel, “Keeper of the Gate.” The first installment in an upcoming sci-fi fantasy series, the book highlights the creativity and talent within the Stella Niagara faculty and provides students with the unique opportunity to meet a real-life author from their own school community.

Giving back through ‘Share the Fair’
Stella Niagara continues its tradition of community outreach through Scholastic’s “Share the Fair” program. In past years, proceeds have supported schools affected by natural disasters, as well as Damar Hamlin’s Chasing M’s Foundation.
This year, funds raised will benefit the Erie County Social Services Department, providing new books for social workers to give to children for birthdays and special occasions throughout the year. Funds will be collected through register round-ups, “Bookmark-O-Grams,” and votes for the best decorated door.
The celebration of literacy continues with the Stella Niagara winter reading challenge, titled, “Get Berr-ied in a Good Book!” Running through March 16, the challenge encourages students across all grade levels to track their reading minutes and complete themed bingo boards.
Prizes will be awarded for individual achievement and class participation, culminating in a schoolwide celebration the week of March 17.
Through engaging programming, creative expression and meaningful service, Stella Niagara’s book fair highlights the school’s strong culture of literacy and community connection.
At Stella Niagara, reading isn’t just encouraged – it’s celebrated.
