Shea’s Performing Arts Center invites the community to Shea’s Buffalo Theatre to see “A Minecraft Movie” at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 17 (doors open at noon). The movie-watching event is part of “Shea’s Free Film Series.” Moviegoers are invited to come early for pre-film activities, trivia, and to stop by the book table to pick up a free new or gently used book. Concessions will also be open.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, “A Minecraft Movie,” stars Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks and Sebastian Eugene Hansen. The film tracks four characters who find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they’ll have to master this world while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter. Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative … the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.

This film was released in 2025 and is rated PG.

Tickets are free to the public; however, seating is limited. For free tickets to “A Minecraft Movie,” visit https://www.sheas.org/performances/free-film-series/.

“Shea’s Free Family Film Series” is made possible, in part, thanks to generous support from Erie County for community arts engagement and education.
