Thank you to Josh Maloni and the Tribune for featuring the Town of Niagara in this week’s edition. Our town may be small, but we have a lot going on and a lot to offer!
•The Military Road sewer construction is complete but, unfortunately, there is another sewer collapse further down toward Viola’s that the town is going to have to repair. More traffic issues, but hopefully not as long or difficult. We truly wish we didn’t have this problem, but we have no other options but to repair it. As inconvenient and extremely costly as it is, again, it is required.
•In the past two years, there have been many projects proposed to the town. Currently, there are nine different housing projects to include apartments, townhouses, single-family homes, a complex of apartments fully handicap adaptable. If they all come to fruition, which I hope they do, our census will increase and we will receive more share of sales tax, which is dispersed by population.
•We have recently welcomed a few new businesses including Niagara Flex, Bison Turf, The Flavor Factory Cannabis Dispensary. Looking to the future, a full-service day-care center, Niagara Hyundai, Chase Bank, medical offices, additional flex units, a landscape nursery and more that we are not ready to disclose – but extremely hopeful will also be in our town, so we can share that great news soon. We are always grateful for all our local businesses old and new that contribute to our community and are great partners with the town. Please support all our local businesses!
•“MUSIC MANIA MONDAYS” … starts June 29. The Fourth of July celebration will be on July 5, with fireworks, some new bands, some favorites, but always a great way to spend your Monday night! Tune into Facebook on Monday, May 18, for the official lineup announcement.
•America and Niagara County are celebrating their 250th anniversary in 2026. Legislator McKimmie presented the town with the county flag, which flies at Town Hall, and 20 more will be joining the town flags on Packard Road by Memorial Day until the 4th of July. The 250th American flags will be in each of the flower pots on Military Road and fly alongside (but higher) than our town flag at the Cannon corner garden area. We are encouraging all the businesses on Military Road to fly a flag at your business, and the homes and businesses on Packard Road to do the same. Let’s welcome everyone to town in the most patriotic way. Support our troops with the “God Bless our Troops” signs courtesy of Cooper Sign & Old Glory Flag. They are available to display in your windows for free at Cooper Sign.
•Highway will be paving, repairing what the long and harsh winter damaged, picking up brush, etc. Please be patient as this work is done.
•An additional playground has been added to Veterans Memorial Community Park. It will be called Gary Guiliani Playground. More fun for the children to enjoy, and a tribute to our longtime police chief.
•Lastly, I wanted to share that our town is one of six municipalities that is assessed at 100%, and we are the LOWEST county tax rate in Niagara County.
Let’s continue the great strides we have made on cleanup, safety and being good neighbors.
Wishing everyone a warm and fun-filled summer!
