Cmdr. Dale Berger of Charles N. DeGlopper Memorial VFW Post 9249 accepts a Grand Island Town Board proclamation for VFW Buddy Poppy Days to be observed during the time that the nation marks Memorial Day.
In the photo, from left, are council members Rhonda Diehl and Tom Digati; Berger; and council members Jose Garcia and Dan Kilmer.
The VFW’s annual distribution of Buddy Poppies reflects its desire to "Honor the Dead by Helping The Living." The Buddy Poppies are assembled by disabled veterans. The proceeds of the fundraising campaign are used to benefit disabled and needy veterans and also for the widows and orphans of deceased veterans. VFW Post 9249 will be distributing the poppies and accepting donations to the fundraiser at various locations on Grand Island.
