The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office announces the launch of Versaterm CommunityConnect, an automated communication service designed to provide timely updates to community members after they call 9-1-1, or report a crime.

Beginning May 28, individuals who contact the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office may receive automated text or email updates regarding the status of their call, or case – if a matter is under further investigation. These notifications are intended to help residents better understand what happens after they request assistance, while also strengthening communication between the NCSO and the community it serves.

Versaterm CommunityConnect integrates with the sheriff’s office’s existing dispatch and records systems to automatically generate personalized messages at key points during the response to a call, or subsequent investigative process. The system allows the sheriff’s office to control the content of messages, the timing of notifications, and which types of calls or cases generate outreach. This helps ensure that residents receive relevant information without creating additional workload for dispatchers, deputies or records personnel.

“Communication is a critical part of public safety,” Sheriff Michael J. Filicetti said. “When someone reaches out to us for help, they deserve to know what happens next. This gives us another tool to help keep residents informed.”

The NCSO remains committed to using technology and modern public safety practices to enhance service, improve efficiency, and build trust with residents throughout Niagara County.

Community members will only receive a Versaterm CommunityConnect message if they contacted the agency first, and proper information was provided to dispatchers at the time of call. Not all call or case types will receive a message. The system is not a substitute for emergency communication. Anyone experiencing an emergency should always call 9-1-1.
