Like many who have weathered the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic this year, the Youngstown Business and Professional Association was forced to take a step back, with cancellations of a number of community favorites and a refocus on its priorities.

The Youngstown Lions Club announced its newly elected officers were installed recently at an outdoor ceremony in the Town of Porter. The new officers slate for 2020-21 includes Terry Cummings, president; John MacArthur, first vice president; Richard Allen, second vice president; John Rolfe, treasurer; Suzanne DeJoseph, recording secretary; and Debby Comerford, corresponding secretary.

The Lewiston Senior Club and Lewiston Travel Club announced this week their September meetings - typically held on the first Tuesday and Thursday of each month at the Lewiston Senior Center - have been moved to the first week in October with the site remaining closed due to COVID-19.

Artpark & Company used its unusually (and pandemic-related) slower spring months to plot out a new mural project for the main parking lot on South Fourth Street in Lewiston. That grand canvas was recently completed and can be seen in these pictures from K&D Action Photo & Aerial Imaging.

"We could sell tomorrow; we could never sell. We're staying open here; we're staying open there. None of our locations are closing. And we could always decide to not sell," Colucci said. "As far as the Lewiston deli goes - or any of our locations - everything is open and continuing to go on. We're still taking banquets; we're still taking reservations at our main location."

St. Mary's Hospital has received approval from the New York State Department of Health to expand its Clearview treatment services inpatient chemical dependency unit.

In mid-July, Catholic Health and its foundations were notified by a third-party software vendor, Blackbaud Inc., of a cyber security breach that impacted the health system and other nonprofit organizations locally and throughout the country. The breach, which was part of a potential donor data base, included the names, medical record numbers, and dates of service for patients who received care in Catholic Health from 2016 through May of this year.

Niagara County Legislature Chairwoman Becky Wydysh on Tuesday announced the Niagara County Department of Emergency Services will hold three drive-thru events on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week at the Public Safety Training Facility in Lockport to distribute masks for children going back to school.

The Youngstown Free Library held an electronics drop-off on Saturday, Aug. 8. Organizers said the response was overwhelming and raised over $4,000 for the library. Coordinator Lauren Morse was helped by volunteers from the board of directors And The Friends of the Library.

Andrew Cuomo. He left the decision on gym reopenings to local county officials.
