The Kenmore West Blue Devils Varsity boys team was defeated by narrow margin to the North Tonawanda Lumberjacks in the first game of the season. The sole goal scored over all 80 minutes was made on a penalty kick by Tyler MacNeil.

The Wheatfield Lions Club invited their counterparts, the St. David Lions Club from Canada; as well as area service and business groups to a steak dinner at Five Senses Nature Park for their fifth annual Service Club Steak Night. Clubs included the Niagara-Wheatfield Kiwanis, Wheatfield Business Association, Town of Niagara Lions, and the Niagara County Central Rotary Club.

News came out on Aug. 8 that Double C Realty Inc., owner of property north of Colonial Drive in the Town of Niagara, had submitted a draft scoping document to the Town of Niagara Town Board. In response, the board has scheduled a public scoping meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, to gather public input.

Town of Lewiston Supervisor Steve Broderick was given a citation from the Sanborn Area Historical Society at the Sanborn-Lewiston Farm Museum Festival for providing the society help financing a feasibility study; purchasing the farm in 2002; continuing to support it over the years, including this year; completing the museum's parking lot and connecting the venue to the town sewers, allowing the Sanborn-Lewiston Farm Museum to be open all year for the first time.
