Rotary Club of Niagara County Central, Wheatfield Lions Club present 1st annual 'Market in the Country'

The Rotary Club of Niagara County Central and the Wheatfield Lions Club will present the first "Market in the Country," from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 8. The free-admission event will occur at the Wheatfield Lions Club's Five Senses Park, 6535 Ward Road.

On Monday night, the Town of Wheatfield Town Board held its first meeting of April. Prior to the meeting, the board held a public hearing regarding a proposed telecommunications law in the town.

Accardo announces county legislature bid

A Niagara County Sheriff's Office K-9, named Chief, has received a bullet and stab protective vest, thanks to a charitable donation from nonprofit organization Vested Interest in K9s Inc. The vest was sponsored by Pam, Corey and Todd Harmon of Lockport and embroidered with the sentiment "In memory of Chief Craig C. Harmon." 
More than 500 fire departments registered for statewide recruitment weekend

More than 500 fire departments across New York have already signed up for the ninth annual RecruitNY Weekend (April 27-28). RecruitNY is a cornerstone campaign of the Firemen's Association of the State of New York (FASNY), with the goal of increasing membership in the state's volunteer fire service. The 2019 RecruitNY weekend is scheduled for April 27-28.

Niagara County announced it has implemented a new, web-based civil service examination application process. The new portal allows prospective employees to fill out civil service examination applications via the internet. The site replaces the hardcopy paper applications used in the past.
