Theme tray raffle to benefit Ghostlight Theatre

A theme tray raffle will be conducted Sunday, Nov. 18, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 755 Erie Ave., North Tonawanda, to benefit the Ghostlight Theatre. Doors open at noon. Admission is $5 and includes one sheet of 25 tickets. Drawing starts at 2:30 p.m. Pizza, nachos, desserts, pop and coffee will be available.
Lance to resign Niagara County Legislature seat

Niagara-Wheatfield girls volleyball fly into states

Last Saturday, the Niagara-Wheatfield Falcons girls volleyball team notched the program's first-ever Section VI title. On Friday night, at Webster-Thomas High School, the girls etched another first into its history. The Falcons defeated the Irondequoit Eagles, 3-1, in the Far West Regional crossover matchup. The victory sends the girls to the New York State Tournament in Glens Falls.

King new president of Niagara County Farm Bureau

The Niagara County Farm Bureau held their annual meeting on Thursday, Oct. 25. At the meeting, the bureau adopted a number of county, state and federal resolutions. Resolutions Chair Kevin Bittner presented the various topics, including funding for agricultural organizations, solar power project limitations to protect farmland, trucking issues and labor concerns.

Community collaboration on display at Niagara-Wheatfield eco-campus revitalization project

Community Collaboration was the strength of the Niagara-Wheatfield eco-campus revitalization project at the Niagara-Wheatfield schools. More than 75 students and adults worked side-by-side on a crisp, rainy Saturday morning in October. For some, it was their first experience not only using a rake, a shovel and a wheelbarrow, but planting flowers and trees and spreading mulch. It was certainly a new challenge.

Marble Orchard Players Eva Nicklas (as Sally Barton Tryon) and Tim Henderson (as Josiah Tryon) shared tales of history, gossip and intrigue. Recollections of old-fashioned medicinal cures brought smiles and laughter to resident's faces.

Pawenski Business/Industry Partnership award at the New York Community College Trustees Awards Dinner on Sept. 22 in Saratoga Springs.  The award is presented to one business in the state annually, recognizing their partnership and commitment with a local community college.

Project Pride to host fall clean up event
