The Friends of the North Tonawanda Public Library recently announced its paperback book sale from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17, and from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18. The sale will be held at the North Tonawanda Public Library, 505 Meadow Drive, North Tonawanda.

Residents at Northgate Health Care Facility in North Tonawanda joined together with volunteers from Buffalo Dream Weavers to bag lunches for the homeless. As a team, they were able to make 100 lunches, which were distributed through the Magdalene Project in Niagara Falls. Everyone had a wonderful time working to support this great cause.

In last year's inaugural Niagara Frontier League Crossover Championship girls soccer game, the Grand Island Vikings defeated the Niagara-Wheatfield Falcons, 2-0. In 2018, the two met again in the same game, with Grand Island, once again, walking away victorious, 1-0.

Recently, the Town of Niagara Town Board sat down, reviewed and discussed the proposed 2019 budget. In front of the board members, Town Supervisor Lee Wallace presented a $8,750,012.88 budget, which is $273,985.12 less than the 2018 proposed budget.

It's been almost four years since Niagara-Wheatfield's golf team had a number other than zero in its loss column. On Tuesday, that number stayed put at zero, as the team won the Niagara Frontier League Tournament at Willowbrook Golf Course with a combined low score of 407.

Niagara-Wheatfield's football team has had a stellar season, but on Friday night, the Falcons ran into the best of the best - the West Seneca West Indians.
The Indians, the reigning New York State Class A Champions and No. 1 ranked Class A team in NYS, ran over the Falcons on its homecoming game, 42-0.

In October 2017, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced that North Tonawanda was a recipient of $2.5 million as part of the $20 million Smart Growth Community Fund Buffalo Billion II initiative. North Tonawanda, as well as the other municipalities that received $2.5 million each - the City of Dunkirk, City of Lackawanna and Village of Gowanda - are focusing on projects that utilize existing infrastructure to support placemaking, walkable communities and sustainable development. Funding awards were recommended and approved by the Western New York Regional Economic Development Council (WNYREDC).

It's been a good two years for the Niagara-Wheatfield girls tennis team. In 2017, the team won its first Niagara Frontier League title since 2012. In 2018, the girls are back on top of the league - clinching their fourth NFL title in program history. It's also the first time in program history that the team has won the title in back-to-back years.
