The preliminary budget released by the Niagara-Wheatfield Board of Education at its meeting Wednesday was essentially a guessing game about the district's funds and future. As with all districts in the state, local school tax rates remain up in the air until Gov. Andrew Cuomo releases state aid runs.

The Town of Niagara has appointed Joseph Proietti as its new senior citizens services director. Proietti began work Feb. 2. His goal is to increase participation at the center and to expand the programs and activities offered at the center.

The Buffalo Museum of Science will hold its first "MessFest" event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 22, at 1020 Humboldt Parkway, Buffalo.
