The Buffalo-Niagara Region has been selected to host the prestigious 2026 Professional Disc Golf Association Amateur World Championships. This highly anticipated event marks the first PDGA World Championship hosted in New York since the 2011 Amateur Worlds in Rochester.

The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens announced its new "Butterfly Experience" will open this summer, from June 7 to Aug. 3. Hundreds of live butterflies will take flight in their newly renovated tropical orchard. The live butterfly exhibit will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance on Wednesday reminded seniors that, for most localities, the deadline to apply for greater property tax savings through the Enhanced STAR property tax exemption is March 1. Basic STAR exemption recipients who turn 65 this year and meet the eligibility requirements should apply to their assessor for the Enhanced STAR exemption.

The Niagara County Legislature passed a resolution at their meeting Tuesday night opposed to National Grid's efforts to increase electric rates on its customers. The legislature called on Gov. Kathy Hochul to reject National Grid's plans, and filed comments opposed to the rate hike with the New York State Department of Public Service.
