Artpark in Lewiston is kicking off its 40th anniversary season with a gala evening on Saturday, June 1. The celebration event will take place in the scenic Outdoor Amphitheater area overlooking the Niagara River gorge. The evening will be highlighted by entertainment and a gala dinner.

In the early 1800s, one of the favorite places in the Village of Lewiston was Hustler's Tavern. It was so popular that, in 1813, when Lewiston was burned by British forces in retaliation for the U.S. attack on Niagara-on-the-Lake, Hustler's Tavern was the only building that was spared.

Lack of snow didn't slow down the annual snowshoe event at Old Fort Niagara. Folks didn't get a chance to actually walk on snowshoes or play the game of snow snakes, but everything else was available to show visitors how people worked in and survived the winters in the 1700s.
