Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced the first recipients of the Yahoo Community Fund for Niagara County. Over $400,000 was awarded to eight projects to support small businesses, literacy and workforce training, food and ecotourism, job creation and other critical community development initiatives in Western New York.

Old Fort Niagara will present its final re-enactment of the season, War of 1812 Encampment, on Sept. 3-4, when the fort's staff, volunteers and 150 regional re-enactors will present history demonstrations from the War of 1812 for visitors to our National Historic Landmark.

The project connects at the south end with the City of Buffalo's North Buffalo "Rails to Trails," and on the north end to the Tonawanda "Rails to Trails" extension (which is currently under design). It will stretch from State Street in the City of Tonawanda to East Niagara Street and the Erie Canalway Trail.
