At the November board meeting of the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce, elections were held to fill open board of directors positions. The December board and member meeting, held at Niagara Falls Country Club Dec. 9, passed a vote to ratify the slate of officers filling the open positions commencing Jan. 1, 2016.

Consumer Credit Counseling Service and the Niagara County Financial Literacy Coalition announced they are seeking 15-20 volunteers to register by Dec. 8 to help prepare taxes at free tax prep sites. Following more than three hours of absentee and affidavit ballot tabulations inside the Niagara County Board of Elections Tuesday, Republican Town of Lewiston Highway Superintendent Doug Janese has taken a four-vote lead over Dave Trane. Newcomer Rob Morreale, meanwhile, has taken an eight-vote lead for the second available Town Board seat.
