New concussion treatment could change how head injuries are treated

The standard of care for acute concussion may undergo a dramatic change, depending on the results of a new exercise treatment that physicians at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo have developed and begun testing.

At the November board meeting of the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce, elections were held to fill open board of directors positions. The December board and member meeting, held at Niagara Falls Country Club Dec. 9, passed a vote to ratify the slate of officers filling the open positions commencing Jan. 1, 2016.

Higgins announces approval of Microbead-Free Waters Act in House of Representatives

Andrew Cuomo signed legislation (S4523A) that prevents Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority funds from being diverted, while S5061A is in relation to the North Tonawanda Firemen's Benevolent Association, and S3638A relates to those with intellectual-developmental disabilities.

Following more than three hours of absentee and affidavit ballot tabulations inside the Niagara County Board of Elections Tuesday, Republican Town of Lewiston Highway Superintendent Doug Janese has taken a four-vote lead over Dave Trane. Newcomer Rob Morreale, meanwhile, has taken an eight-vote lead for the second available Town Board seat.
