The New York Department of State announced the availability of $4.5 million in federal grant funding for economic and community development within New York's northern border region. The grant funding is available to communities within New York's 28 federally designated northern border regional commission counties. The NBRC is a regional economic development partnership between federal and state government, which includes portions of the states of New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.

During a novel coronavirus briefing, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo today signed into law a $40 million emergency management authorization for New York's novel coronavirus response. This appropriation will allow the state to hire additional staff and procure equipment and any other resources necessary to respond to the evolving situation.

The patient, a woman in her late 30s, contracted the virus while traveling abroad in Iran, and is currently isolated in her home. The campaign encourages sites around the state and Canada to glow in teal each March 6, World Lymphedema Day, to raise awareness of lymphedema (LE) and lymphatic diseases (LD), chronic swelling conditions that have no cures. Niagara County Clerk Joseph Jastrzemski and Niagara County Legislature Chairwoman Rebecca Wydysh today said Niagara County residents should strongly consider getting passports rather than rely on New York state driver's licenses to meet the TSA requirements for REAL ID for all domestic flights that takes effect on Oct. 1. The new rules require every traveler 18 years of age an older to have at minimum a REAL-ID-compliant driver's license to fly within the U.S.

New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) announced final submission deadlines for outstanding eligibility documents required to process priority homeowner applications submitted for the 2019 Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River Flood Relief and Recovery Program. The request for documents applies only to homeowners who submitted applications in priority categories during the eligible application periods. New applications are not being accepted.
