People Inc. has received a grant from the Patrick P. Lee Foundation. The award, totaling $100,000, will allow the agency, in collaboration with People Inc. affiliate the Elmwood Health Center, to integrate mental health counseling into its successful employment services.

USA Niagara Development Corp. (USAN) board of directors met Wednesday and unanimously approved the acquisition of 32 individual properties totaling approximately 11 acres of land in downtown Niagara Falls. The purchase of these properties is made possible through a strategic land acquisition program that is part of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's Buffalo Billion phase two.

Nearly 83 percent of older drivers report never speaking to a family member or physician about their safe driving ability, according to new research from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety. Of the small percentage of families who do have the often-difficult conversation, 15 percent do so after a crash or traffic infraction has occurred - which could be too late.

The New York Power Authority has issued a request for information to identify potential public and private partnerships that will help address key barriers to electric vehicle expansion in New York state. The RFI also will help maximize the impact of NYPA's recently announced EVolve NY program, which will allocate up to $250 million through 2025 toward accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles across the Empire State.

The field test will include aerial and hand distribution of rabies vaccine-containing baits (ONRAB brand). Hand baiting may begin after Aug. 13 through the end of month. Fixed wing aircraft distribution will occur Aug. 15 (for two or three days) and helicopter distribution will occur Aug. 23 (four to five days), all weather dependent.

Sweeney Jr., the assistant director-in-charge of the New York Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, announced Wednesday the arrests of Chris Collins, a congressman representing the 27th District of New York; Cameron Collins, the son of Chris Collins; and Stephen Zarsky, the father of Cameron Collins' fiancée. They were arrested on charges of participating in a scheme to commit insider trading relating to securities of Innate Immunotherapeutics ("Innate"), an Australian biotechnology company on whose board of directors Chris Collins served.

The New York State Public Service Commission on Friday revoked its approval of the 2016 merger agreement between Charter Communications Inc. and Time Warner Cable Inc. because Charter, doing business as Spectrum, has, according to PSC - through word and deed - "made clear that it has no intention of providing the public benefits upon which the commission's earlier approval was conditioned."

The Niagara Wine Trail will sponsor the annual Niagara USA Wine Festival in Lewiston's Academy Park on Saturday and Sunday, July 28-29. It will be the 10th annual wine festival in Lewiston, promoting the local wineries in Niagara, Orleans and Monroe counties along the Niagara Wine Trail USA. The festival will run from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday and noon until 6 p.m. Sunday.
