The New York state average is $3, which is down 1 cent from last week. A year ago, the state average was $2.43. AAA Western and Central New York (AAA WCNY) reports the following averages:

The Erie County Commission on the Status of Women and the Monumental Women of WNY Committee have announced a new program to highlight the achievements of Western New York women. Monumental Women of WNY will recognize trailblazing women of WNY through the placement of a series of public monuments and plaques that will highlight the "hidden history" of women in public life, and help to raise awareness of the many contributions women have made to this region.

On Sunday, July 8, more than 700 cyclists will leave their cars behind to pedal along the historic Erie Canalway Trail from Buffalo to Albany in celebration of the Erie Canal Bicentennial and Barge Canal Centennial. They will arrive in Buffalo on Saturday to prepare for the launch of the 20th annual 400-mile Cycle the Erie Canal tour, organized by the statewide nonprofit group Parks & Trails New York.

Town of Lewiston Justice Hon. Thomas Sheeran on Wednesday dismissed the Village of Lewiston's charges against Hastings Lewiston without prejudice. What this means is that, if the municipality moves forward with purchasing the Frontier House, the alleged building code violations become the village's responsibility. If the purchase doesn't happen, charges can be refiled against Hastings Lewiston.

The New York State Park Police announce stepped-up enforcement as part of the nationwide awareness and enforcement campaign, Operation Dry Water. This weekend, State Park Police are warning boaters that additional officers will patrol state waterways and will have numerous checkpoints set-up as there will be zero tolerance for anyone boating under the influence.

On June 1, 10-year-old Gavin Burns was injured in a lawnmower accident at his home in Lewiston. Mercy Flight took him to Oishei Children's Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. Doctors were able to save Gavin's leg, but, unfortunately, they were not able to save his foot, which had to be amputated just above his ankle.

Erie Canal Harbor Development Corp. and Albright-Knox Art Gallery on Thursday revealed world-famous artist Robert Indiana's "NUMBERS ONE through ZERO" sculptures on temporary exhibition at Buffalo's Outer Harbor. The 10, eight-foot-high COR-TEN steel sculptures, weighing close to 2,000 pounds apiece, are placed at Wilkeson Pointe and will be on loan until October 2019.
