Becker Farms celebrates 130 years of the Becker Family Farm with special anniversary activities to kick-off the fall fun season, along with "Apple Thief Weekend," a mix of hard ciders with house-brewed beers, on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 24-25. On Labor Day weekend, visitors to Old Fort Niagara will step back in time to the War of 1812 as the historic site presents "Defending Niagara." Reenactors portraying both U.S. and British forces will gather at the fort for two days of military demonstrations, artillery firings, uniform programs, Regency women's fashions and interactive recruiting programs for families.

The New York Power Authority and New York State Canal Corp. unveiled the final installation of an iconic lighting program in Western New York. Spanning the Erie Canal between the City of Tonawanda and City of North Tonawanda in Niagara County, the CSX Railroad crossing is now illuminated nightly with LED lighting as a focal point over the historic waterway.
