Raise your beer stein high and give "Prost" to the eighth annual Old Falls Street Oktoberfest, taking place from 1-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, on Old Falls Street's middle block in downtown Niagara Falls. The German-themed event will be held rain or shine and is free and open to the public. As per tradition, the day will kick-off with the ceremonial tapping of the kegs at 1 p.m.

The Office of Mental Health announced New York is the only state in nation to have received a grant award from the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Zero Suicide grant program. The award of $3.5 million over five years will help implement and strengthen the state's suicide prevention efforts.

The Great Pumpkin Farm in Clarence will kick off its 22nd annual Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to dusk Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 16-17, with a special Armed Forces weekend, in collaboration with WNY Heroes Inc. The regular admission fee will be waived for military, police or fire department personnel who present proper identification to WNY Heroes representatives at the gate. Such attendees will also be permitted to bring one guest for free.

The Niagara History Center and Erie Canal Discovery Center will open their doors free of charge on Saturday, Sept. 23, as part of Smithsonian magazine's 13th annual "Museum Day Live!" On this day only, participating museums across the U.S. emulate the spirit of the Smithsonian Institution's Washington, D.C.-based facilities, which offer free admission every day, and open their doors for free to those who download a "Museum Day Live!" ticket.
