The terrific smell of barbecue chicken, ribs and pulled pork will be in the air at Mount St. Mary's Hospital from 3-6 p.m. Friday, May 1, for the St. Francis Guild's 17th annual chicken and ribs barbecue. Krolick's will cook the food. All proceeds will benefit the hospital.

The Village of Lewiston is raising the tax rate from $7.26 per $1,000 of assessed valuation to $7.38 for the next fiscal year. The 1.68 percent bump, a 12-cent increase, means a land owner with a property valued at $100,000, for example, will see a tax increase of $12 for fiscal year 2015-16.

Water St. The annual fundraising event offers food and music from some of the top local chefs and musicians, as well as a basket auction and 50/50 split draw.
