Highwire artist Nik Wallenda returned to Niagara Falls on Thursday, Aug. 23, to update the media about his plans to open a daredevil museum. It was Wallenda's first trip back to the area since he crossed over the falls to Canada on June 15.

This year's Lewiston Jazz Festival will take place on Friday, Aug. 24, from 5 to 10:30 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 25, from noon to 10 p.m. on Center Street. Admission, parking, and shuttles to the festival from Artpark's lower level parking lot are all free.

This Wednesday, 740 kids from Niagara and Erie counties came out to enjoy a spectacular picnic filled with food, fun, and games. The Grand Island Lions Club Special Kids Picnic, an annual event dedicated to offering safe, supervised activities to developmentally disabled and physically handicapped children, has become a Grand Island tradition.

"Best for Food" judges Mike Shubic and Brian Cox are in for a treat when they visit Lewiston on Wednesday. The "Road Bros," one of Rand McNally/USA Today's Best Small Towns in America travel teams, will receive a police escort down Center Street to a gathering at The Silo Restaurant. There, they'll find a "rousing welcome."
