The IKE Carrier Strike Group (CSG) returned to Norfolk, Virginia, after a historic nine-month combat deployment to U.S. 5th Fleet on July 14. On-board was Grand Island native Lt. Carlee Conway. She was part of Fighter Strike squadron, VFA-32, the "Fighting Swordsmen."

Rape conviction in Niagara County

Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced Martice D. Porter, age 22, of Niagara Falls, plead guilty in County Court to the crime of rape in the third degree. Porter admitted to having sexual intercourse with an underage female in 2023.
