Niagara Military Affairs Council press release and photo
The Niagara Military Affairs Council (NIMAC) joined military leaders, elected officials and community partners on Tuesday to celebrate the groundbreaking of the $6.3 million BOWST training project at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station (NFARS), a milestone made possible through years of sustained advocacy and collaboration.
The new training capability allows airmen to complete critical requirements on-site, eliminating the need for costly travel and reducing time away from mission responsibilities. In addition to strengthening readiness, the system positions NFARS as a destination for visiting units, bringing added economic activity to Niagara County through lodging, dining and local spending.
“This project is a clear example of what sustained advocacy and strong partnerships can accomplish,” said Mike Zimmerman, chairman of the Niagara Military Affairs Council. “NIMAC has worked alongside military leaders and our federal delegation for many years to help move projects like this forward. Today’s groundbreaking reflects the strength of a community that understands the importance of supporting its installation and the airmen who serve here.”
The $6.3 million military construction investment supports both operational efficiency and the long-term strategic value of NFARS, priorities NIMAC champions through ongoing advocacy efforts.
“The success of this project demonstrates the power of collaboration between military leadership, elected officials and community advocates,” Zimmerman added. “NIMAC remains committed to ensuring Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station continues to grow, modernize, and serve as an enduring asset for Western New York and our nation.”
