This summer, the Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University (CAM) invites the community to experience “Art in Motion,” a dynamic season of exhibitions, programs and events that explore movement – across ideas, images, bodies and technologies. Anchored by the release of The CAM Magazine, issue 3 (summer 2026), available mid-May for free in the museum’s Sculpture Court, the season reflects CAM’s ongoing commitment to creating experiences that engage, inspire and connect audiences through art.

At the heart of the summer season are two major exhibitions opening Thursday, June 4: “King of Power, Queen of Beauty,” a vibrant exploration of Niagara Falls as both natural wonder and cultural icon; and “Hardwired: Foundational Works in Digital Art,” which traces the conceptual and technological roots of digital practice through works from CAM’s permanent collection. Together, these exhibitions examine how power – natural, cultural and technological – shapes the ways we see, understand and imagine the world around us. The public is invited to celebrate at the opening reception, from 5-7 p.m. (with a members preview beginning at 4:30 p.m.), for an evening of conversation, community, and fresh perspectives.

Throughout the summer, CAM continues to offer programs that invite visitors to move through the museum in both physical and reflective ways. “Yoga @ CAM,” led by Full Circle Mind & Body of Lewiston, returns on select Fridays – May 29, June 12 and 26, and July 10 and 24 – providing a welcoming, all-levels opportunity to pause, stretch, and reset within the serene setting of the Main Gallery, with outdoor options available during warmer weather.

The museum’s “CAM Meets” series also returns with “Picturing America” on May 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., pairing a screening of “American Dreams: Norman Rockwell and the Saturday Evening Post” with a curator-led tour of “USA250: Celebrating the American Vision.” This program invites participants to consider how images shape national identity – examining how Rockwell’s widely circulated illustrations helped define a shared cultural imagination and how artists continue to challenge and expand that vision today.

A highlight of the season is “Party on the Portico,” CAM’s annual members and friends celebration, taking place from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 25. This festive evening brings together music, refreshments, and access to current exhibitions in a relaxed, outdoor setting, offering both longtime supporters and new visitors a chance to connect with the museum community. Guests will also have the opportunity to join or renew their membership, with special thank-you gifts available for those who sign up

With “Art in Motion,” the Castellani Art Museum continues to position itself as a space not only for viewing art, but for experiencing it as an active, evolving force – one that invites visitors to reflect, engage and move forward together.
