Grand Island Rotary Club Press Release & Photos
With big checks and even bigger smiles, the Grand Island Rotary Club recently surprised four local high school seniors at their homes with unexpected scholarship awards.
Taking a page from the iconic “Publisher’s Clearing House” playbook, Rotarians surprised the students at their homes with oversized checks in hand, delivering the good news in person. The joyful visits honored both academic and vocational paths, while celebrating the students’ commitment to service — a core value of Rotary’s mission.
Skye Dreher and Natalie Kopf each received $1,000 college scholarships, while Luke Gworek and Jacob Bonafede were awarded $1,250 trade scholarships. The recipients were selected not only for their accomplishments, but also for exemplifying Rotary’s motto: “Service Above Self.”
Whether through leadership, volunteer efforts, or a strong work ethic, these students reflect the values that make Grand Island proud.
