The Greater Niagara Ballet Company invites dancers ages 6 through adult to audition for its 37th annual production of “The Nutcracker,” a timeless holiday classic that combines Tchaikovsky’s enchanting score with elegant choreography and magical storytelling for audiences of all ages.
This year’s production, directed by Artistic Director Mary Schnepf and Assistant Director Mary Pappagallo, holds the distinction of being the longest-running annual “Nutcracker” in Western New York.
Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12; 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Niagara Falls High School Performing Arts Center, 4455 Porter Road.
Open auditions will take place Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Niagara Arts & Cultural Center, 1201 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls.
The schedule is as follows:
√ 9:30 a.m. – Check-in opens
√ 10-10:30 a.m.: Ages 6-7
√ 10:30-11 a.m.: Ages 8-9
√ 11-11:45 a.m.: ages 10–12
√ 11:45 a.m. to noon: Acro auditions (ages 10-plus with acrobatic training)
√ noon to 12:30 p.m.: Character roles ages 13-plus
√ 1-1:30 p.m.: Clara auditions (ages 12-14)
√ 1:30-2:15 p.m.: Junior corps (ages 12-16)
√ 2:15-3 p.m.: Senior corps & soloists (ages 14-plus and adults)
