At exactly 11 a.m., on a windy and snowy Nov. 11, a small group gathered at the Veterans Park Memorial Wall in Veterans Park, 1717 Bedell Road, to remember the service offered by veterans.
Originally called Armistice Day after the end of World War I in 1918, the holiday celebrated veterans of World War I. In 1954, the name of the holiday was changed to Veterans Day, to honor veterans of all wars, not just World War I.
