Old Fort Niagara Press Release
On March 29 and 30, Old Fort Niagara presents a two-day block-printing workshop featuring Randy and Virginia Tucker of Louisville, Kentucky. Randy and Virginia are familiar faces at Old Fort Niagara as period merchants at the historic site’s major events. They offer various textiles, but are best known for their attractive silk and cotton neck scarves.
Participants in the workshop will learn about the history of block printing and how to design and carve their own blocks. Once complete, participants will use the blocks they create to print their own custom scarf. At the end of the workshop, participants will take home the blocks they carved and their finished, one-of-a-kind neck scarf.
Additional scarves and blocks will be available for purchase for those who want to use their new-found skills to print additional scarves.
Hours for the workshop are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $125 per person. Lunch is included. The workshop will take place at the Fort Niagara Officers Club.
Advance tickets are required and are available through Old Fort Niagara’s website, www.oldfortniagara.org.
